Topo Guides to Long Distance Footpaths in France - Light, pocket-size guides to the Sentiers de Grande Randonnee, the GR routes, a dense network of long-distance footpaths across the French countryside. Each topo-guide covers either a circular route, or part of a longer path: the GR5 between Lake Geneva and the Mediterranean, for example, is covered by four topo-guides. The guides have extracts from the 1:50,000 topographic survey, overprinted with the route. The descriptions of the route are divided into short sections, according to the difficulty of the terrain, and are always placed next to the maps for easy reference. The text is in French, but a large amount of information is conveyed by symbols. A list of all the main points along the route indicates what facilities can be found there: public transport, food shops, and all types of accommodation (gites d'etape, campsites, mountain refuges, hotels, etc.) with addresses and telephone numbers.

Trekking in Corsica, David Abram - I bought this book and later discovered that there was a specific guide to the GR20 and bought that too. Despite being an overall guide to Trekking in Corsica the Abram book is far superior. In fact I would go so far as to say that if you read the Abram book you could write your own guide, without even going there! Despite both being written in the same year the information in the Abram book is first class and accurate. Of course it was only a few months old too, that will change with time.
